Summary/Abstract: The UIP (usual interstitial pneumonia) is a microscopic representation of interstitial lung disease. Over time, from the introduction of the concept of UIP to the present, there have been changes in its understanding. In particular, the relationship between UIP as a histological model and IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) as an aggressive rapidly progressing interstitial lung disease has been highlighted. The article describes the basic morphological characteristics of the UIP, which are also clarified by visual documentation.
