Summary/Abstract: The time of old age has a triple function: with one face towards the known past, with another face towards the present effectively lived and with the other turned towards the unknown but presumptive future – so that memory, action and dream are the essential and concurrent states of each age. If, until the third and old age, we were focused more on the daily life and the proper conduct, from now on we can contemplate with wisdom this universal perspective, of an eternal life in perpetual motion and change, which inexorably trains us. Old age is, of course, the closest to the customs where you leave behind everything you’ve done and had, and go beyond with only their memory.
