Summary/Abstract: The National Union of Toy Cooperatives came into existence in Kielce in 1972. It coordinated the 27 cooperatives specializing in the production of toys in Poland. It supported toy factories in raw materials supply and helped them modernize and expand. The toy industry was of great importance due to the needs of the domestic market and export opportunities. The paper presents the circumstances in which the National Union was created, including the course of its First Congress. In the following years, the National Union increased the number of subordinate cooperatives, and there were already 42 in 1975. It also carried out non-economic initiatives, founding the Museum of Toys and Play in Kielce (1979), which operates today. The union ceased to exist in 1989.
