Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the relationship between education and poverty in isolated communities in Northwest Bulgaria. By using ethnographic methods, the main obstacles and motivations for continuing education in universities for children of Roma origin are highlighted. The focus of analyze is the social and cultural factors that characterize the environment and that have an impact on the educational process.
