Summary/Abstract: In recent years, the education system in Poland has experienced education related to the introduction of teaching with the use of distance learning methods and techniques. This task was quite a challenge for teachers and students as well. When the situation has largely nor malised, the education system in Poland is facing another challenge related to the increased influx of refugees from Ukraine to schools. The article describes the case studies of four students from Ukraine who came to Poland after 24. February 2022. In Poland, these stu dents study in the classes of mainstream schools. These schools do not have specially created preparatory departments, which are established only in a select few schools in the region. The article describes good practices used in working with these students in science lessons. The amount of effort made in adjusting the methods and forms of work as well as the barriers and difficulties encountered by students and teachers at work is indicated. The effectiveness of the interventions was assessed from the perspective of the achieved results as well as from the teacher’s position.
