Services innovativeness in the period of economic slowdown

Summary/Abstract: A characteristic feature of the contemporary economies is the growing importance of the service sector. Its share in GDP formation accounts for more than 60%. This is a very dynamic and flexible sector as indicated by changes resulting, inter alia, from the implementation of innovative solutions oriented on raising service enterprises’ competitiveness. An aim of the article is to present the trends in this area in the years 2009-2012 together with an attempt to answer the question of the impact on the innovative activity and development of the service sector exerted by the observed in that period decline of the rate of economic growth. The grounds are the statistical data and surveys carried out among service enterprises operating in Poland on the state of their competitiveness and directions of innovative solutions implementation. The results show increased innovation service companies, which see it as a pull factor for increasing competitiveness.
