Summary/Abstract: On this occasion, the author analyses the life and activity of two great personalities of Romanian culture, the historian Nicolae Iorga (1871–1940) and the writer Liviu Rebreanu (1885–1944). With regard to Nicolae Iorga, the focus is on the notes he made during his travels at the beginning of the 20th century in Transylvania (1904–1905) – published in the volume Neamul românesc în Ardeal şi Ţara Ungurească, when he travelled through Bistriţa and Năsăud regions. On the other hand, Liviu Rebreanu is analysed mainly from the perspective of the writer's connections with the Năsăud area, where he originated and from where he drew inspiration for many of his literary works.
