Summary/Abstract: The need to write a book to reorganize linguistic competence tests administered to technical students before their graduation was caused by the lack of consistency in the test format and content. Also, the administration practice itself presented differences at various levels, with various faculties and in the perception of the staff. The harmonization and standardization of different methodological, linguistic and administrative issues in ESP testing was one of the most important goals of this collective activity. Another goal was providing a tool to guide the students in their learning. The paper intends to describe issues that appeared in the process of test writing: the profile and needs of targeted students, the objectives and the competences involved in the tests, the type of tasks the students had to solve in order to pass the test.
