Summary/Abstract: The creators of youtube.com Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim make their first demons tration of the site platform in 2004, and the domain registration is officially on 15th of February 2005. No one expected that just several years later the web site will have over 2 million visitors a day, more than 20 hours of video content will be uploaded every minute and the most popular videos will have over 180 million views. YouTube is now one of the leading media, where political and business interests meets and all new visual products have their place. Gradually this platform collects enormous video material, and became a cultural phenomena, where could be found films from the early cinema to the new 3D movies. The current article reveals the creation process of this internet media and the new tendencies this screening platform is setting. A phenomenon with such power is always bringing positive and negative consequences and pushes the visual culture in new directions.
