Summary/Abstract: Moving St Nicholas’ relics from Byzantium to Bari, Italy in 1087 was an act that influenced the cult of the saint across the Latin Christendom. That time and place are believed to have given an impetus to compiling a liturgy commemorating the saint in West Europe. The Antiphonary in a number of its copies gives a widely ranging chant repertoire commemorating St Nicholas. The manuscripts of the days since the commemoration of the saint had been spread across the Latin Christendom well until the late sixteenth century includes this liturgy in their sanctuary cycle. The article deals with the structuring and content of Saint Nicholas Liturgy in the copies of Gregorian Antiphonary. Original information is sought as to whether this chant repertoire could be assumed to be compiled purposely for this commemoration or borrowed from other liturgies either partially or entirely and which could those possibly be.
