The problems of education, school and upbringing on the pages of the Vilnius “Pobudka” (1908–1914)

Summary/Abstract: Pobudka”, a Vilnius monthly youth magazine, was published between 1908–1914 with Leon Perkowski as the Editor in Chief, later replaced by his son, Mieczysław. It was a conservative magazine, mainly presenting the correspondence of students in the country and abroad, chronicles and youth magazines reviews. The aim of the article is to point out the basic thematic threads oscillating around the education and upbringing problems. The analyzed magazine contained considerations about the desirable attitudes and behaviour of youth, materials discussing the issues of self-education, middle and higher education and the issue of women education.
