Summary/Abstract: Which are the policies, the most appropriate and best strategies for the economic development of Albania? This is the most fundamental question that is done today, not only by every politician and senior leaders, but each expert and citizen concerned about the economic situation in which we are and above all, for the most appropriate way of development that we should proceed. There are ideas circulating on various proposals that include a fairly wide range of policy measures. In debates, the most important question is “what should we specifically do in the short and long strategic term”, are given the numerous proposals that despite positive preoccupation to “rectify the current situation” or “open a new page in the socio-economic development of Albania”, at their core still have quite subjective elements, which remain in separate segments of development policy, even proposed things that are tested and proven during the passing of time, in other countries and are not considered efficient today, the tendency on going is still the one to “copy” what other countries are doing. To assist and contribute to this important debate and decision making, is required to take a journey into policies and economic development strategies that have followed different countries of the world, particularly those in developing countries. A journey that presents us with the vision, content, context and results of many development policies experimented, followed or even failed, mainly in the period after World War II.
