Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to expand knowledge in terms of the impor-tance of soft skills in the process of professional matching to the requirements of revolution 4.0.in selected European countries.THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The study focused on an attempt to determinethe potential characteristics of a future employee in terms of the requirements of revolution 4.0. Thestudy, which took place between April 11 and 12, 2023, analyzed a total of 1,870 job offers down-loaded from the international LinkedIn website for five European countries.THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article highlights the changes brought about bythe 4.0 revolution. in human resources management, with particular emphasis on changes takingplace in the employee’s competence profile. Particular attention was paid to the increasing impor-tance of soft skills. Based on the literature search and the results of own research, an attempt wasmade to identify key features, important from the point of view of the labor market, that influencethe criteria for professional selection in the IT industry.RESEARCH RESULTS: The conducted research showed that the most desirable soft skills in se-lected IT professions are: communicative skills allowing for easy contact with another person andmotivation to work. Creativity ranked third. CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: Re-searchers point out that in order to develop an effective personnel policy, it is important to cooper-ate on the one hand with managers who are aware of the real needs of the organization in termsof competencies required from employees from the other departments, in order to develop a solu-tion to the problem of labor shortages caused by Industry 4.0.
