Summary/Abstract: 350 years ago, in 1673, at the Uniev monastery in Poland (currently in the Lvov region of western Ukraine), the Psalter in verse was printed, compiled and edited by Dosoftei, metropolitan of Moldavia and one of the most important scholars of the old Romanian culture. His biography and imposing ecclesiastical literary work can be today, with the help of the net, easily understood by any person interested in knowing and assuming the essential strands of Romanian culture. Consequently, I will not linger with details regarding the life and activity of a truly fabulous character of the cultural history of Romanians. An admirer of this great personality, I have been striving for several decades to deepen the dimensions of his creation. The anniversary of 350 years since the appearance of the Psalter in verse of the man who was officially declared, in 2005, holy hierarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, gave me the opportunity to affirm the conviction formulated in the title of this article. In the series that follows, without major editorial changes, I resume some of my various public interventions on this subject.
