Summary/Abstract: The opening of the borders of the European Union and increasing the number of its members resulted in higher amount of students from the countries of the former Yugoslavia and Bulgaria studying at Polish universities. South Slavs often do not realize the similarity of all Slavic languages. The article presents selected methodological suggestions for planning courses for South Slavs, which would take into account these similarities. However, one should not forget that language similarities can be a source of mistakes: transfer from related languages is also an issue to which the author dedicated a place in her work.
