Summary/Abstract: The rapid increase in the tourism potential of Şanlıurfa has occurred in direct proportion to the fact that important archaeological discoveries such as Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe have attracted the attention of the world. These discoveries positively affected the tourism potential of the region and caused an influx of visitors. The increase in transportation, especially by air, has made it easier for tourists who want to visit these historical areas. Evaluating the impact of GAP Airport on regional tourism is important in understanding its contribution to the tourism sector and economy in the region. This study measures the economic impact of GAP Airport, which provides indirect support to businesses such as travel agencies, hotel businesses, food and beverage businesses and other supply companies in the tourism sector, as well as tourism activities for the region. Analysis of the data obtained through 397 individual surveys reveals the effects of GAP Airport on regional tourism. These analysis results show that the airport contributes to the development of sectors such as tourism, cultural and economic structure, industry, education and health in Şanlıurfa and its surroundings. The importance of new incentives and supports, as well as infrastructure investments such as GAP Airport, is emphasized for the development and development of the region. This study is an important step in evaluating the tourism potential of Şanlıurfa and provides a road map for the sustainable tourism development of the region.
