Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the problems of historical poetics of translation and unveils intertextual relations between Arthur Rimbaud’s “Fétes de la faim” (1872), David Burliuk’s Cubo-Futurist “Op. 75” (1913) and three Polish translations of Burliuk’s poem provided by Jerzy Bandrowski (1921), Anatol Stern (1971) and Edward Balcerzan (1971). Blurring the distinction between originals and translations, the analyzed poems highlight the creativity of poets-translators in the development of the 20th-century European poetry with its inherent intercultural and interlingual displacements. Successive revitalizations of “Rimbaud’s avant-garde tradition” bring awareness of the historical-literary activity of translation.
