Summary/Abstract: The futurology is a modern science that emerged in the middle of the 20th century. But it has its roots in the past - from Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the New Age. The foundation for the development of this science is oracles, utopias, science fiction literature, etc. The founder of science is Osip Flatheim, who considers it a philosophy of the future. After the establishment of the new science, many established sociologists, scientists and institutions contributed to its development. Since the 1960s, it has also been a serious scientific discipline in various universities around the world. Since 2015, it has been included in the curriculum of the "Social Activities" major at Konstantin Preslavski − University of Shumen - Bulgaria. Students should study it because social activities are dynamic and they have to make predictions of a different nature.
