The critical approach of communication – one social approach of communication

Summary/Abstract: The critical perspective upon communication springs from the conjunction of two approaches which have remained somehow parallel: the approach on communication and the approach on the social functions and roles. In this way, the social, institutional components of communication are therefore introduced in the research and theorization of communication together with the technical and psychological components. Through this connection, a series of aspects is turned into themes, such as: the link between the cognitive content and the meaning of information, the dependence of the significations of extra-linguistic components, the socioinstitutional over-determination of communication.
