Summary/Abstract: The essay examines the way in which communication is theorized from the perspective of existence of the human being as a world of significances and of cohabiting with the other. The examination leads to the idea that speaking bout communication cannot be done without speaking about community, the two concepts are related, being determined reciprocally in their significance. Starting from this point, in the second part of this essay there is a survey of the ways in which communication, as a link that creates the community, is also an instrument through which the convergence of the individual behaviour in relation to the members of the community is achieved. The analysis of communication from this perspective is achieved in a system of axis, circumscribed by argumentation, persuasion and manipulation as forms of the social influence. The result of this intercession is that through communication we understand a process through which at least two beings establish a relationship which implies an exchange in order to achieve an objective, a relationship that occurs within a context, within a given historical, cultural or psychological situation, and communication is a process that refers to relating to, building interpersonal relationships.
