Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the possible approaches to creating texts and their organization in a textbook for foreign students who start to study the Russian language. The authors discuss the main genre features of educational texts, their main characteristics and principles that apply to the selection of such texts. They also establish a connection between the text genres and the typology of reader perception. The paper provides examples from the textbook “Hello, Russia!” („Zdravstvuj, Rossia!”), which is being prepared for publication.
