Types of arguments in the discourse of Italian and Romanian economic press

Summary/Abstract: The present article focuses on the most frequent types of arguments, encountered in the economic discourse of Romanian and Italian written press. Identifying the arguments has implied a thorough analysis of a corpus made of 40 articles (20 Romanian articles and 20 Italian ones). The arguments classification has met the core criteria, proposed by Chaim Perelman şi Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca in Traité de l’argumentation (the most impressive modern recodification of Aristotle’s rhetoric system). Our analysis and comments have taken into account further outstanding contributions, not only to the theory of argumentation but also to the discourse analysis and pragmatics.
