„Pomiędzy kulturą a ziemią”. Od świata globalnego do lokalnego na przykładzie literatury „stąd”
“Between culture and the earth”. From the global world to the local on the example of the literature “from here”

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this publication is to draw the readers’ attention to the significant role of regionalPolish language education which seeks to answer the question – How to help the studentto “take root” in a seamlessly modern, often dehumanized, anonymous culture? The citedteaching proposals lean in the direction of “reading” contemporary culture, namely: 1) Coca-Cola advertisements, a global beverage with a deceptive identity “this is where we’re from”;2) papal teaching (in a global context), which stresses the potential of regional culture andthe values rooted precisely in this very culture (eg. the strength of one person’s emotionaland psychological bond with another, with childhood and with the surroundings dear to one’sheart).The context of contemporary culture leads directly to a regionalised dimension of educationand the proposal to read biographies and fiction by Wladyslaw Dunarowski, a native of theLimanowa region. The proposed literary texts have many values. I include, amongst others,sensitising oneself to the culture and micro stories of people formerly living in the Limanowaregion, directing young people’s thinking toward a man “from here” and his personal waysof experiencing the “local homeland”. A deeper look into literature “from here” led toa realisation of the timeless power of revealing human problems that turn out to be universal.In my conclusion, I point out the special role of literature “from here” in the modern world –increasing the opportunities of young people in a global world.
