Summary/Abstract: The article’s main aim is to present the results of research about the understanding andanalysis of the read text by children with special educational needs in primary school. For thewhole process to proceed properly some issues must be taken into consideration.1. Matching the text to the development of a child with a certain disorder. Cognitive andperceptual, emotional and social development is disturbed at children with specialeducational needs. Not every text can be an educational material.2. Factors that determine the choice of particular required reading. The content, style,language and volume of the text must be perfectly matched to the development level ofa child and to the specific features of certain disorder.3. Ways, methods of reading for understanding. Which methods can improve and makereading more effective, decrease the level of fatigue and increase student’s motivation?4. Evaluating student’s understanding and analysis of the text must be the Abstract of thewhole lesson unit.
