Summary/Abstract: The article is an introduction to the characteristics of issues related to the area of social work activities. The main assumption is to show the role of state social policy in solving social problems, especially those related to demographic processes. The content of the included analyzes refers to problems in the area of old age and the aging of society as well as the tasks faced by social workers in the perspective of old and new social challenges.
