Summary/Abstract: The national education and identity of the national minorities have been important problems in the Balkans and Eastern Europe during the past century. The different governments, nonetheless obliged by the Treaties of the League of Nations to respect them, have had the tendency to assimilate these minorities with different means and ways. The Albanian state because of some specific circumstances and also because its weakness within and in the international arena, the lack of extreme nationalism or chauvinism and the existence of many Albanian populations in the neighboring countries followed a correct policy towards the minorities. This policy was also demonstrated towards the Greek minority, who was the main minority within Albania. The Greek national education and its identity came consolidating. But, from the other side, between the Albanian state and the Greek minority existed a series of controversies which would be treated in this paper. Concretely, the minority violated the international legal obligation in such issues as the financing of the minority schools; the teaching texts and programs; the lack of teaching of the official language, the political propaganda in the schools etc. The Albanian state was dissatisfied from this activity and tried to discipline the activity of these schools in accordance with its goal to integrate these population, but didn’t succeed at the right measure.
