Contemporary Department „Library Science, Scientific Information And Cultural Policy“

Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to analyze the current state of one of the main educational institutions in library and information sciences in Bulgaria. Historically, the teaching of specialists for academic libraries and scientific and technical institutes was entrusted to the LIS Department at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Changes in the sociopolitical plan also affect the development of educational processes. The contemporary department of “Library Science, Scientific Information, and Cultural Policy” already has its own history, experience has been accumulated, sufficient quantitative data has been collected, and various observations of processes and events have been carried out, which allows analyzing the state of the scientific, educational, personnel, and social potential of the department.
