Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present how the immediate surroundings can help children acquire language. It presents the case study of a 12-year-old Chinese girl who, as a consequence of parents’ decision, has lived with a Polish family and has a chance to be totally immersed in Polish. The article shows the dynamic acquisition process, including also a cultural adaptationaspect. It shows that not only school teaching can have a good influence on children’s language development.
