Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of language errors made by Chinese students learning Polish at a basic level. The aim is to show how the Chinese language can affect the process of mastering Polish grammar and lexical system. The text analyzes essays of fifteen Chinese students attending the Polish language course at the Center of Polish Language and Culture in the World at Jagiellonian University. The results of the analysis are a pilot study and require further research.The final conclusions have to be regarded as preliminary due to the limited representativeness of the research corpus.
