Summary/Abstract: In this article, previous research findings were cumulated, indicating that extended reality and metaverse technologies can enhance patient satisfaction and management, diagnosis and clinical care, immersive medical treatments, and Internet of Things remote healthcare service delivery in immersive 3D worlds. Throughout August 2023, a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases was performed, with search terms including “metaverse-based remote patient management, simulated treatment, and medical consultations” + “Internet of Things-based disease prediction and diagnosis,” “wearable device-based vital sign monitoring,” and “3D augmented reality-based medical data visualization.” As research published between 2022 and 2023 was inspected, only 155 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria, and 17 mainly empirical sources were selected. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Dedoose, ROBIS, and SRDR.
