Briefly about the life and works of a teacher who lived and worked in the conditions of two eras: Hristo Nikiforov Daskalov (1843 - 1917)

Summary/Abstract: Hristo Nikiforov Daskalov (1843 – 1917), born in Tryavna, is among those individuals to whom history has not paid the necessary attention until now. For his successors, and probably for the general public as well, he left a rich documentary and literary legacy, including several autobiographies. For his profession, the educator chose the teaching field, in which he worked for 35 years. His career began during the Revival period in his hometown, later at Lyaskovets and Vratsa, where he welcomed the Liberation. Until the end of the 19th century, he tirelessly continued to teach in a number of educational institutions in Oryahovo, Tryavna and VelikoTarnovo, but in the new conditions set by the new institutional Bulgarian state. Daskalov spent his last years in literary activity, devoting himself to collecting and recording historical information, ethnographic materials, his own works of art, but also researching his lineage and recording his memories.
