Summary/Abstract: This paper presents characteristics and importance of NGOs in the social services process. Those organizations are private for-profit entities and their main goal is to meet society’s needs. They offer paid or free of charge services. Their existence depends on availability, allocation and gaining funds from external sources so they focus on satisfying needs and expectations of society. The conditions of the economy and competition on the market of social services between public and private entities providing social services, force organisations to adapt the economic principles to activities of social organizations (NGOs). It is reflected in an implementation of standardisation systems and quality management processes. The adoption of principles providing free of change services does not excuse them from applying commonly accepted standards and norms of service management.
