Summary/Abstract: This article aims to give a sociolinguistic perspective on the presence of youth language as an indicator of language change. The first part presents systemic and sociolinguistic assumptions by discussing the diasystematic variation and describing the dynamics of linguistic variation using different approaches. Youth language will be then presented as a diastratic and diaphasic established variety, by taking various approaches into account and by emphasizing the specific and most striking features of this language variety.
