Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the issue of repatriation of people of Polish origin, mainly from the former Soviet Union. Repatriation can be understood as the process of returning people who against their will were resettled abroad back to their country of origin or citizenship. The current legal and administrative arrangements in Poland do not ensure successful repatriation. Debate on its limited effectiveness and the challenges arising from the application procedure led to the integration of social groups interested in Polish issues in the East and drafting a new civil bill on repatriation.
