Internal Security – 15 years of teaching and research at the Faculty of Security Sciences of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University

Summary/Abstract: This article is in fact a report on the didactic scientific and expert output of the Depart- ment of Internal Security prepared on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of establishing the Faculty of Security Sciences at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University. The authors attempt to answer the question about the motives for taking up studies in thefield of Internal Security, pointing out the decreasing attractiveness of employment in state security services. They recall the main lines of research conducted in the depart- ment. They illustrate with examples the thesis that, in its research work, the Department of Internal Security has tried to keep up with current needs shaped by the changing re- ality. Finally, they show the rather extensive expert activity of the Department’s staff, their involvement in popularising the principles of state internal security. For there is no doubt that if science is to be linked to practice, there is particularly ample room for this postu- late in the area of internal security.
