Summary/Abstract: Psychological support in the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria is an important part of the activities related to preserving the life, health and mental well-being of military sailors. The participation of Bulgarian warships in voyages abroad in NATO and UN operations in the Mediterranean Sea or for scientific research purposes in the world ocean pose topical questions related to the adaptation resources and the level of stress resistance of the crew members. The degree of risk to the mental well-being of military seafarers and to crew relationships during sailing is high, given the specific demands of seafaring and the military profession on the individual. The purpose of this article is to present the built and tested practical model for conducting the psychological support activities of the crews of military ships participating in overseas voyages. The methods used to achieve the goal include individual psychological diagnosis, training of crew members, observation and immediate counseling in a ship environment. An author‘s screening to assess the current mental status of military sailors is presented. Screening is applied before departure to minimize the risk of crewing servicemen with low mental resources to cope and after return to follow up on changes. Specific interventions are presented as part of psychological support in the process of sailing and depending on the current mental state of military sailors and crew relationships. The division of psychological interventions applied before, during the voyage and after the return from voyage, are tailored to the dynamics of mental processes at the individual and group level depending on the specific impacts on the individual of the physical and social environment in ship conditions.
