Summary/Abstract: The current study is part of a large-scale international study of people’s experiences during the coronavirus pandemic. The presented results are limited only to the Bulgarian sample. The specific focus, although related to the pandemic, refers to a much wider range of situations and challenges to the psychological functioning and mental health of people. It is about the relationship between their health status and multiple psychological factors - in particular, the relationship between health status (both objectively obtained and subjectively assessed) and a large number of psychological variables such as fear of Covid-19, false beliefs, attitudes towards vaccination, stress, cynicism, locus of control, deterioration of various aspects of life, etc. We found that in the case of many of these variables there were no differences between people who had already had Covid-19, those who only suspected they had the virus, those who were unsure, those who assumed they were healthy and those who had medical proof that they were healthy. However, we established that ten of them had statistically significant differences linked to the group health status (for males and females combined), with F-values ranging from 2.507 to 9.276 and p-values ranging from 0.042 to 0.000. When examining the data by gender, we discovered intriguing differences; with statistically significant results observed in men only, women only, and occasionally, both men and women simultaneously (a detailed description is available in the full text).
