New findings from the Paleolithic site of Costești I in the north-western Moldova

Summary/Abstract: Mammoth remains, a spear point made of mammoth tusk and flint artifacts were found at the shallow water near the bank of the Costeşti water reservoir in 2018, near the well-known Upper Paleolithic site of Costeşti I (Râşcani District, Republic of Moldova). New findings significantly correct our knowledge of the object and hunting practices of people of the Gravettian culture Molodova – Cosăuți – Cotu Miculinți type, in the Prut-Dniester region during the last glaciation.
