Organisation and Management of Agriculture Under the Government of Simeon of Saxe-Coburg

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this report is to present the main points of the agrarian policy of the government of Simeon of Saxe-Coburg in the context of the overall economic policy of the cabinet with the participation of the National Movement “Simeon II” and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. It is part of the overall process of transformation of the Bulgarian economy from a centrally planned to a market economy in 1989–2007 and is related to the integration of Bulgaria into the structures of the European Union. In the field of the agrarian sector, the political role of DPS as the party governing the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will be highlighted. The trends in the organisation and management of agriculture, which began under the previous Council of Ministers of Ivan Kostov, stand out. The methodology of the study is a historical and political analysis of the political and socio-economic situation in the country in the first years of the 21st century and the goals of the government in foreign and domestic aspects. The results of the research are related to the political and socio-economic consequences of the implemented agrarian policy, which are important for the country's accession to the EU, the confirmation of market principles for the functioning of the national economy, and the development of economic processes in general. The conclusions are related to the overall process of transformation of the agrarian sector in 1989–2007 and the transformation of the Bulgarian economy from a planned to a market economy with a competitive beginning and the affirmation of democratic values in the Bulgarian society.
