Summary/Abstract: In this study, the concept of protocol, its importance, and the concept of protocol in diplomatic life are discussed. Protocol is the adaptation of the rules of etiquette and courtesy that we encounter in every aspect of life to official life. Because there are rules of etiquette and courtesy that must be followed both in social life and in public and diplomatic life. Although it is not mandatory to comply with these rules in social life, it will lead to reactions such as exclusion and shame from society. In public life, protocol rules refer to processes whose importance cannot be denied in state ceremonies, official correspondence, and the healthy conduct of international relations. Because, in accordance with the principle of representation, it is of great importance to protect the dignity of the title held and the state represented. Failure to comply with protocol rules will lead to protocol accidents, wear and tear in interstate relations, and loss of image. In this context, giving due importance to protocol rules in every country should be one of the most essential duties of the administrators representing it.
