Summary/Abstract: St. Luke the Evanghelist even draws a parallel between the striving to inherit the Kingdom of heaven, the sending of the disciples to proclaim the Gospel and the healing of the sick: "Go! Behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves ... and into whatever city you enter, and they will receive you ... heal the sick in it and say to them, The kingdom of God is near at hand" (10:3; 8:9). From this we cannot fail to understand that healing - even that which is linked to transitory bodily pains - must be seen in the perspective of the Kingdom of heaven, that is, in relation to the principal calling of every Christian, that of becoming heirs of eternal life
