Summary/Abstract: The problem of consumerism and its consequences for the moral conscience of mankind requires constant updating and accountability, because it tends to become the greatest pressure exerted on man today, by which he loses his orientation towards the fulfilment of his dignity and vocation, freely and consciously leaving the horizon of personal communion with God. This world is no longer seen as a laboratory in which man, as a person, can progress towards perfection, towards union with God, but as an end, a final goal, in which he seeks to satisfy all his passions in every way, forgetting the things that really matter. Thats why its important to be aware of this fact, to understand that our duty is to see how we can respond to God by living in different historical situations, but this presupposes something very important, namely the critical spirit through which man strives to distinguish what is valuable from what is not in his existence.
