Summary/Abstract: The revolution of December 1989 represented a crucial event in the history of Romania, the communist dictatorship being removed. The most important institution tasked with maintaining the regime was the Securitate. His role was also that of returning Nicolae Ceaușescu to power, in case it was lost. Consequently, from December 22, elements of the Security launched the "disguised counter-revolution".
