Summary/Abstract: The tale of “Little Red Riding Hood” appeared in oral tradition in France in the 11th century, and as a printed classical book in the 17th century. The themes developed in the fairy tale narrative are sealed onto numerous film adaptations that further influence the reception and perception of the audience. There are changes in two systems of presentation of information: one of the language and the other of the cinema, i.e. of the sign symbol, the sign image and the sign index. The new elements in them are the result of different editorial and directorial approaches. The article focuses on applied contemporary models of adaptation of classical content in a specific social and cultural context. Through specific examples and comparisons are presented the edited and authorized versions of a classic text, which, through the applied linguistic-stylistic strategies, editorial and directorial approaches, conveys cultural productions as an existential experience of some extraordinary event with signs of catastrophe. The interpretive key used to understand this catastrophism lies in the fairy-tale world, presented as a mirror of society with a presupposed possibility of catharsis.
