Summary/Abstract: The article is an analysis of the monitoring of activities of candidates from the Electoral Committee of the German Minority (KWW Mniejszość Niemiecka) on Facebook and Instagram during the cam- paign for the Polish parliamentary elections in 2023. The aim of the study was to verify the following hypotheses: Social media (Facebook and Instagram) constitute an important element of communica- tion in the electoral competition process, serving candidates at the electoral district level to present their own platforms. Social media (Facebook and Instagram) are significant tools for electoral mobi- lization utilized by candidates at the electoral district level. The starting point is a consideration of the first “Internet” campaigns in the United States. The study’s results are combined with a discussion that relates them to the most important mechanisms described in the literature (including echo chambers and filter bubbles) on which social media algorithms are based.
