Summary/Abstract: This paper relates to the issues of social responsibility of banks in Poland. In particular, the idea, activities and the main fields of CSR engagement of banks are described. The paper also characterizes RESPECT Index – a special stock exchange category serving to promote and distinguish entities implementing particularly high standards of CSR policy. In the next part, the simple and adjusted rates of returns of banks included into RESPECT Index are presented. In the last part, the author places an analysis of investment profits gained due to the introduction of bank shares into the portfolio of RESPECT Index, measured with cumulative abnormal return (CAR).
