SOME ASPECTS OF SPATIAL MOBILITY OF INHABITANTS OF VOJVODINA

Summary/Abstract: In this paper I have examined a group of questions which can give the answers about importance, types and general possibilities of the spatial mobility of inhabitants of Vojvodina, on the basis of an empirical research. It is a fact that spatial mobility of inhabitants represents a relevant marker of the circumstances in which any society develops. It is a general assumption that voluntary spatial mobility of inhabitants can be a marker of the level of development of a society. According to many historical and contemporary data, Vojvodina is considered to be the most developed Serbian region. Nonetheless, the spatial mobility inside its territory, as well as inside its settlements, is weak. On the other hand, the aspirations to change the place of living are strong, but they are in collision with the real possibilities to look for a new and hypothetically better living environment. All these factors implicate some other, important social anomalies which condition the spatial immobility of inhabitants. These problems are neither studied enough in our sociology, nor in other spatially orientated humanities.
