Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to discuss some methodological and ethical issues which may arise in the course of the psychological diagnosis of minor witnesses performed for the purposes of the justice system. In this respect, the psychologist may, each time, come across a number of significant issues. These are, for instance: the reconciliation of the role of the objective expert with the obligation to protect the well-being of the person diagnosed, as imposed by professional standards, the specific situation of the harmed child or the avoidance of the secondary victimization during the diagnosis of the victim. Based on the analysis of 36 court and psychological opinions, we discuss basic principles applicable for the psychological examination, the preparation of the relevant opinion as well as any questions and ethical issues which may emerge during the diagnosis.
