Differences in social infrastructure in voivodships

Summary/Abstract: There was the administrative reform introduced in Poland in 1999. As its result most institutions of social infrastructure in the voivodeships were given under the management of local governments. The availability and use of these institutions by the inhabitants of the sixteen voivodeships in 2009 is mainly analysed in this paper. Data on capital expenditure paid to these institutions complement the analysis. There was also made a comparison of the changes in social infrastructure, mainly quantitative, which occurred within ten years after the reform of local government. Lessons learned lead to the conclusion that changes in the social infrastructure implemented by local authorities in the voivodeships are heading in the right direction, but in some parts of this infrastructure (mainly in health and education) they are introduced too slowly and erratically.
