Summary/Abstract: This article aims to show the role of innovations applied to the implementation of active forms of the labour market policy. The paper consists of a theoretical part presenting the forms of active labour market policy and an empirical part, which is based on an analysis of the Polish public employment services being entities responsible for the practical implementation of the labour market policy. The methodology is based on a critical analysis of the literature and case study method. It seems that currently the public employment services are crucial in implementing active forms of the labour market policy. Innovations related to the active forms of labour market policy yield positive results if they are tailored to the needs of local communities. However, innovative projects completed in Poland were only episodic and served rather using funds from the EU structural funds, not being a vehicle of a systemic change.
